R. Mockatis Ph. D. Thomas
R. Mockaitis is Professor of History at DePaul University. He earned a
BA in European History from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, and his
MA and Ph.D. in Modern British and Irish History from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. Professor Mockaitis is the author of British
Counterinsurgency: 1919-1960 London: Macmillan, 1990), British
Counterinsurgency in the Post-Imperial Era (Manchester: U. of Manchester
Press, 1995), and Peacekeeping and Intrastate Conflict: the Sword or the
Olive Branch? (Westport, CT: Praeger, 1999). A fourth book, Grand
Strategy in the War on Terrorism (London: Frank Cass; co-edited with
Paul Rich) has just been published. He is also working on a book on
civil-military cooperation in Kosovo funded by the United States
Institute of Peace and an anthology of articles on peacekeeping (co-edited
with Erwin Schmidl, Military Science Department, Austrian Ministry of
Defense). Professor
Mockaitis is a frequent media commentator on terrorism and security
matters. He has appeared on Public Television, National Public Radio,
and various Chicago TV and Radio stations. He has lectured at the U.S.
Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the Canadian Forces Staff
College and presented papers at the Pearson Peacekeeping Center
(Canada), the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (UK), and at conferences
co-sponsored with the Military Science Department of the Austrian
Ministry of Defense. |
